The Senate approved in under five minutes the proposed ₱889-million budget of the Office of the Vice President (OVP) for 2026 during its plenary deliberations on Thursday.
Vice President Sara Duterte personally attended the session as senators reviewed and endorsed her office’s budget for second reading. Lawmakers reached a quick consensus, allowing the OVP’s funding proposal to proceed without lengthy interpellation or debate.
Following the approval, Vice President Duterte expressed her gratitude to the Senate for its support of her office’s 2026 budget.
“We’d like to thank the Senate of the Philippines for approving the OVP Year 2026 budget,” she said.
The Vice President did not entertain further questions from reporters, but offered a brief holiday message instead.
“To all of you in the Senate media, the reason I came here is to wish everyone a blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year. I wish you good health in 2026,” she said before leaving the session hall.
The OVP’s budget endorsement forms part of the Senate’s ongoing deliberations on the national budget for the coming fiscal year.
