The Chinese Embassy in Manila announced on Tuesday that the People’s Republic of China will provide financial assistance and emergency supplies to help Filipinos affected by Super Typhoon Uwan and Typhoon Tino.

According to the embassy’s statement, China is donating USD 1 million (approximately ₱58 million) in cash and an additional CNY 10 million (around ₱82 million) to support ongoing relief and recovery operations in the disaster-hit regions.

“We sincerely hope that the Filipino people in the disaster-stricken areas will recover and rebuild their homes soon,” the embassy said in its message of solidarity.

During a regular press briefing in Beijing, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian expressed condolences to the Philippines, acknowledging the heavy casualties and significant property losses caused by the recent typhoons.

“We mourn for the lives lost and extend sympathies to the families whose loved ones died or went missing in the typhoons,” Lin said. “Our hearts go out to those affected by the disaster.”

The spokesperson added that, in the spirit of humanitarianism and friendship, China has not only provided cash donations but also sent emergency relief materials to assist in the recovery. Several Chinese provinces are also extending help through sister-province partnerships with local governments in the Philippines.

“We hope those affected can recover from the disaster and rebuild their homes at an early date,” Lin said.

China’s assistance comes as the Philippines continues to deal with the aftermath of Super Typhoon Uwan and Typhoon Tino, which left widespread flooding, infrastructure damage, and numerous casualties across several provinces.
