AURORA PROVINCE — The eye of Super Typhoon Uwan (international name: Fung-Wong) made landfall over Dinalungan, Aurora at around 9:10 PM, according to the latest advisory from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (DOST-PAGASA).
Packing maximum sustained winds of 185 km/h and gusts up to 230 km/h, Uwan continues to unleash powerful winds and torrential rains over Central and Northern Luzon.
Areas under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 5, including parts of Aurora, Nueva Ecija, Nueva Vizcaya, and Quirino, face extreme threats to life and property, while surrounding provinces — including Metro Manila — remain under lower but dangerous storm signals.
PAGASA warns of life-threatening storm surges, flooding, and landslides, especially in low-lying and mountainous regions. Residents are strongly urged to stay indoors, avoid coastal areas, and follow evacuation orders from local authorities.
The super typhoon is expected to cross Northern Luzon overnight and emerge over Lingayen Gulf by Monday morning. It will likely remain a typhoon-strength system before moving toward the Taiwan Strait midweek.
📢 All are advised to monitor official updates from DOST-PAGASA for the latest bulletins and warnings.
