October 26, 2025 – Taichung, Taiwan
Two separate fires occurred in Taichung City on Sunday, October 26, within just a few hours of each other. The first incident took place around 12:00 noon at a recycling yard on Section 2, Yatan Road in Tanzi District. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
About an hour and a half later, at around 1:30 p.m., another fire broke out at a metal factory on Guanguang Road, Longjing District. Witnesses described the blaze as intense, with flames engulfing the rear portion of the facility. Zhang Wenqing, chairman of the Longjing District Village Chiefs Association, who was present at the scene, said the fire was extremely fierce and that the back of the building had been completely destroyed. It remains unclear whether anyone was trapped inside the premises.
According to the Taichung City Fire Department, the fire at the Longjing metal factory occurred in a single-story iron structure located at Lane 136, Guanguang Road. In response, seven firefighting units were dispatched, including teams from the Fourth Brigade and the Longjing Detachment. A total of 21 fire trucks and 39 firefighters were mobilized, led by Captain Wu Jinzong of the Fourth Brigade, who acted as the on-site commander.
Fire officials reported that the rear section of the factory was completely burned, and fire suppression and search operations were still ongoing as of the latest update. They also urged nearby residents and the public to stay away from the area due to the presence of thick smoke and to avoid obstructing emergency response efforts.
Authorities are now investigating the cause of both fires to determine whether they are connected or occurred independently.
