MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. emphasized that he remains cautious when it comes to public trust and support, saying complacency has no place in leadership. He assured that his administration continues to engage with various sectors to maintain open communication and confidence in the government.
According to the President, being overconfident can be risky for any leader, which is why his administration maintains active discussions with groups that may have concerns about government policies. These consultations, he said, help identify ways to address issues and meet the needs of different communities.
“Politics is a very variable, very volatile exercise. And so, what I can say is that we are confident that the important sectors of society, the power centers of society and of the administration are very supportive still of the advocacies and programs of the administration,” Marcos stated.
Despite consistent support from various sectors, the President noted that this should not be a reason to slow down. He reiterated that his administration remains focused on continuing its initiatives and ensuring inclusivity in governance.
When asked about calls for the military to withdraw its support, Marcos dismissed the issue, saying, “We are still very much on solid ground in terms of support from the different sectors of society.”
The President further explained that his administration is always open to hearing out grievances and accommodating legitimate advocacies.
“Whoever has any kind of grievance or complaint, and who might be thinking of saying that they no longer agree with the administration, we always go to them and ask, ‘What can we do to accommodate your advocacy?’ or the things they want the national government to do. And that’s what we are doing,” he added.
Marcos reaffirmed his commitment to fostering cooperation between the government and the people, underscoring that trust must be earned and sustained through consistent dialogue and action.
