Hsinchu (October 15, 2025) – A highly paid engineer from Hsinchu Science Park, surnamed Zhang, was ordered by the Hsinchu District Court to divorce his wife and pay monthly child support of NT$24,000 until their child reaches adulthood. The decision came after his wife presented evidence of Zhang’s repeated visits to massage parlors and alleged overnight stays with a Chinese masseuse.

The couple married in 2019 and have one son. According to court documents, Zhang’s wife discovered in June last year that her husband had visited a certain spa several times and had even checked into a hotel twice with a Chinese woman. Deeply hurt by what she considered infidelity, she filed for divorce and sought custody of their child.

Zhang, who earns around NT$3 million annually as an engineer, denied the allegations during the hearing. He claimed that he only went to massage parlors for regular services and had online conversations with women out of curiosity, insisting that no sexual encounters occurred. He also said his wife had misunderstood the situation and that he had tried to reconcile through marriage counseling.

However, the court found otherwise. Evidence presented by the wife included recordings of Zhang admitting to “offending” her and discussing the cost, time, and location of sexual encounters with women identified only by nicknames such as “Xiaoyou,” “Lili,” and “Xiaozhi.” In one recording, when his wife accused him of taking women to hotels, Zhang admitted, “Yes,” and said, “There’s absolutely no affection.”

The judge concluded that Zhang’s behavior had seriously damaged the trust and emotional foundation of the marriage. As a result, the court approved the wife’s petition for divorce, granted her full custody of their son, and ordered Zhang to pay NT$24,000 per month in child support.
