Former Presidential Spokesperson Atty. Harry Roque has called on the public to join a planned “People Power” rally aimed at demanding the resignation of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
According to Roque, the rally is set to be held in Forbes Park, an area where several politicians allegedly involved in questionable flood control projects reportedly reside. He said the protest’s location was chosen to ensure that “the people’s anger over corruption” would be felt directly by those accused of wrongdoing.
Roque asserted that President Marcos Jr. must be held accountable for the alleged corruption in government, saying that as the nation’s leader, he bears ultimate responsibility for the actions of officials under his administration.
He also accused top government figures, including former House Speaker Martin Romualdez and former Congressman Zaldy Co, of being involved in large-scale fund misuse — acts that, according to him, could not have taken place without the President’s knowledge or approval.
“The root of corruption in this administration is President Marcos Jr. himself. When the leader is corrupt, those under him will also be corrupt,” Roque declared.
In addition, Roque alleged that the Marcos family has been using government power for personal gain, claiming that the current administration is continuing the practices that began during the presidency of Ferdinand Marcos Sr. He added that those involved in corruption should face legal consequences and be barred from returning to politics.
As of this writing, Malacañang has not yet issued a statement regarding Roque’s remarks or the planned rally.
