October 12, 2025 – Manila, Philippines — The Department of Education – National Capital Region (DepEd-NCR) has announced the suspension of all face-to-face classes in public schools across Metro Manila on Monday and Tuesday, October 13–14, 2025.
According to the regional office, the suspension is a precautionary measure following the rise in influenza-like illnesses and recent earthquake activity affecting several areas in the country.
“DepEd-NCR issues this advisory to ensure the continuity of learning while prioritizing the health, safety, and structural security of all public schools,” the department said in an official statement.
To prevent disruption of the academic schedule, DepEd-NCR directed schools to implement Alternative Delivery Modalities (ADM) — such as synchronous and asynchronous learning — in line with DepEd Order No. 54, s. 2012.
During the two-day suspension, schools were also instructed to:
-
Conduct cleaning and disinfection of classrooms and common areas;
-
Perform structural and safety inspections of buildings and facilities;
-
Prepare for earthquake drills and emergency response protocols; and
-
Reinforce health and safety practices among students, teachers, staff, and parents.
DepEd-NCR emphasized that these measures aim to maintain a safe learning environment while ensuring uninterrupted education amid health and environmental challenges.
