MANILA (October 11, 2025)— Vice President Sara Duterte expressed her reservations on Saturday, October 11, regarding the appointment of Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla as the new Ombudsman.
When asked whether she supports his designation, Duterte said that if she were president, she would not have appointed Remulla to the position.
The Vice President also commented on Remulla’s reported plan to review her Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN).
“There’s no need for him to look into it,” Duterte remarked. “He should just place it before him, study it carefully, and do whatever he intends to do. Let’s leave him — and whatever actions he takes as Ombudsman — to God.”
Her statement comes amid public discussions over Remulla’s commitment to revisit various corruption cases and examine officials’ SALNs, a move that has drawn both support and skepticism from political observers.
