CEBU, Philippines (October 10, 2025)— The government of Taiwan has pledged $200,000 (around ₱11 million) in humanitarian aid for victims of the magnitude 6.9 earthquake that struck Cebu and nearby areas on September 30.

According to a statement from the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in the Philippines, this financial assistance marks the first phase of Taiwan’s support for communities affected by the powerful tremor in the Visayas region.

TECO expressed Taiwan’s deep sympathy and solidarity with the Filipino people, particularly those who lost homes and livelihoods due to the disaster. The office also assured that Taiwan remains committed to helping in recovery and rehabilitation efforts in the affected areas.

Taiwan and the Philippines have long maintained close humanitarian ties, especially in times of natural disasters. The recent donation reinforces Taiwan’s continued support for its neighboring country, highlighting its compassion and cooperation in regional disaster relief efforts.
