GUIZHOU, CHINA — October 8, 2025 — After three years of construction, China has officially opened the Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge in Guizhou Province, now recognized as the tallest bridge in the world.
Towering 625 meters above the Beipan River, the bridge stands higher than the iconic Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. Thanks to this engineering marvel, a two-hour journey across the canyon can now be completed in just two minutes.
The Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge is hailed as a modern feat of engineering, highlighting China’s rapid progress in infrastructure development. It forms part of the country’s ongoing initiative to improve connectivity in the mountainous regions of Guizhou, an area known for its steep cliffs and challenging terrain.
Local officials said the bridge is expected to boost tourism and economic growth in the province by making access to previously hard-to-reach areas much easier for residents and visitors alike.
