The Philippine government is coordinating with several social media platforms to take down a video posted by Cavite 4th District Representative Kiko Barzaga, in which he urged President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. to resign from office.

The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) confirmed the action after Barzaga uploaded a nearly two-minute video on October 4, where he encouraged the public to join him in calling for the President’s resignation.

“When that content surfaced, we immediately called the attention of the platforms and went through the necessary process,” said DICT Secretary Henry Aguda, emphasizing the government’s ongoing coordination to address the matter.

The DICT did not specify which platforms were contacted or whether the video has already been removed, but Aguda assured that proper procedures are being followed in accordance with digital policies and regulations.

As of this writing, Rep. Barzaga has not issued a public response regarding the government’s request for content removal. The incident has sparked discussions online over the limits of free expression and the government’s role in regulating political content on social media.
