TAICHUNG, Taiwan (October 5, 2025)— In celebration of the upcoming Double Tenth National Day, the Taichung City Government announced that it will host a National Day Gala on October 9, marking the city’s first such event in eight years. The gala will take place at the Yuanman Outdoor Theater in Wenxin Forest Park, featuring an exciting lineup of performances and a festive “Sea of Flags” display throughout the city.

To create a strong patriotic atmosphere, the Construction Bureau has begun hanging more than 16,000 national flags across major roads, including Taiwan Boulevard, Wenxin Road, Zhongming South Road, Wuquan Road, Chongde Road, Zhongqing Road, Shizheng Road, and Jianguo Road, which leads to the Wuqi High-Speed Rail Station. Flags will remain on display until October 28.

The initiative continues last year’s “City of a Sea of Flags” project, transforming Taichung into a vibrant cityscape filled with the colors of the national flag—blue sky, white sun, and red earth. The display includes both Roman-style horizontal banners and large vertical flags, designed to showcase multiple layers of color and movement.

Construction Bureau Director Chen Datian said that 20 large vertical flags will also adorn Xitun Road, Section 4, from Metropolitan South Street to the bridge, offering visitors the best viewing angles. He reminded motorists to drive slowly through flag-hanging areas for safety and encouraged the public to call the 1999 hotline if they notice any flags that are damaged or tilted.

The National Day Gala will run from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on October 9, featuring performances inspired by the themes of the Republic of China, Taiwan, and Taichung. Among the performers are Bai Bingbing, Hu Gua, 911, the Taichung Symphony Orchestra, and the Jiutian Folk Art Troupe.

Meanwhile, the Double Tenth fireworks display will take place the following evening, October 10, along the Maoluo River in Nantou, with over 30,000 fireworks spread across 12 themed segments, lighting up the sky for about 40 minutes.

The city government invited residents and tourists alike to join the celebrations and experience Taichung’s festive spirit during the National Day holiday.
