Three stars from the popular French reality survival show “Koh Lanta”Laurent Maistret, Brice Petit, and Ilyesse Benyoub—recently wrapped up an exhilarating six-day journey across Taiwan, discovering the island’s breathtaking natural scenery and vibrant outdoor culture.

The trip, organized by the Tourism Administration’s German Office under the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, aimed to promote Taiwan’s tourism appeal to European travelers. The visit was part of the government’s ongoing campaign to expand Taiwan’s visibility in Europe following its successful foreign media marketing program in August.

From Mountains to the Sea: A Journey of Adventure

The trio embarked on an action-packed itinerary that took them from Taiwan’s northeast coast to the indigenous tribes of Yilan, engaging in thrilling outdoor sports such as rock climbing, river tracing, canyoning, snorkeling, and stand-up paddleboarding (SUP).

In Yilan’s Jinyue Waterfall, the French adventurers experienced canyoning for the first time—climbing through natural rock formations, sliding down smooth cascades, and leaping into crystal-clear pools. Standing at the base of a towering 10-meter cliff, they expressed their amazement at Taiwan’s diverse landscapes, calling it “an outdoor paradise full of endless charm.”

Sunrise over Nanfang’ao and Marine Adventures

The team also visited Nanfang’ao’s Neipi Beach, where they greeted the dawn while paddleboarding on calm waters. As the first rays of sunlight broke over the horizon, the trio captured the breathtaking scene on their phones, describing it as one of the most unforgettable moments of the trip.

On their return journey, they stopped by Tofu Cape, a scenic coastal spot known for its coral reefs and marine biodiversity. There, they went snorkeling and admired the colorful underwater life, showcasing Taiwan’s unique blend of mountain and ocean beauty.

Promoting Taiwan to European Travelers

The Tourism Administration highlighted that this collaboration with French television personalities is part of its broader effort to showcase Taiwan’s outdoor adventure tourism and ecological diversity to European audiences. By featuring the island’s majestic waterfalls, pristine beaches, and vibrant indigenous culture, Taiwan hopes to position itself as a must-visit destination for nature lovers and thrill-seekers alike.
