NEW TAIPEI — A woman in her 30s was hospitalized this morning after being injured in a knife attack at a residential building on Jinxiu Road in Xindian District, New Taipei City. The incident occurred at approximately 8:52 a.m. on October 4.

Authorities reported that a man, identified as the victim’s brother, used a kitchen knife to slash his sister’s neck, reportedly injuring the carotid artery. Despite the severity of the injury, the woman remained conscious. Emergency responders from the fire department quickly transported her to Xindian Gengshen Hospital for treatment.

Preliminary reports suggest the altercation arose from a dispute over a traffic ticket. According to the mother, the 31-year-old son intended to pay the ticket, which led to an argument. The 38-year-old daughter intervened, and during the ensuing struggle, the brother accidentally slashed his sister’s neck.

The brother, who sustained a minor scratch on his left arm during the incident, did not seek medical attention. Police are continuing their investigation to determine the full circumstances and motive behind the attack.
