The death toll from Typhoon Tino has risen to 188, according to the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) in its latest situation report released on Friday.
Based on OCD data, 33 fatalities were recorded in the Negros Island Region, while 140 deaths occurred in Region 7. Meanwhile, 135 people remain missing—56 in the Negros Island Region and 79 in Region 7—as search, rescue, and retrieval operations continue in the affected provinces.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) also reported 96 individuals injured. The storm affected 2,258,782 people, equivalent to 635,565 families, with 397,634 temporarily displaced and now staying in various evacuation centers.
Typhoon Tino caused extensive destruction to homes, infrastructure, and agriculture. A total of 9,585 houses were damaged—9,321 partially and 264 totally destroyed. Damage to agriculture was estimated at ₱10.6 million, while ₱6.3 million in losses were recorded for infrastructure.
Authorities said 74 roads and 10 bridges remain impassable due to flooding and landslides. Power supply has been restored in 58 out of 162 affected areas, while communication lines have been reconnected in 5 of 22 locations. However, 11 areas are still experiencing water supply problems.
Classes have been suspended in 707 areas, while work suspension remains in effect in 483 locations as recovery efforts continue.
The NDRRMC has distributed ₱111.1 million worth of aid to the victims of the typhoon.
Meanwhile, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. announced that he has approved the declaration of a state of national calamity to expedite relief, rehabilitation, and recovery operations in areas severely affected by Typhoon Tino.
